Tam-awan Village, Baguio City
If you want to understand the culture behind the mountains, Tam-awan Village is where you go. Perched on a hillside in the outskirts of Baguio City, this living cultural village gives you a genuine look at Cordilleran indigenous life — traditional architecture, local art, and views that stretch across the mountain ranges.
It’s one of those places that feels completely removed from the city, even though it’s only a short ride away.
What Is Tam-awan Village?
Tam-awan, which means “vantage point” in the local Ibaloi language, is a recreated Ifugao and Kalinga village established by a group of Cordilleran artists. It features authentic indigenous huts relocated from different parts of the Cordillera, an art gallery, artist residencies, and open spaces with some of the best panoramic views in the Baguio area.
It’s part cultural museum, part working artist community – and genuinely unlike anything else in the city.

What to Do There
- Explore the traditional huts — walk through authentic Ifugao and Kalinga structures and learn about how they were built and lived in
- Visit the art gallery — Tam-awan has been a hub for Cordilleran artists for decades, and the gallery reflects that rich creative history
- Take in the views — the hillside location offers sweeping panoramic views of Baguio City and the surrounding mountains, especially beautiful at sunset
- Attend a cultural event — Tam-awan regularly hosts performances, workshops, and festivals celebrating indigenous Cordilleran culture
- Stay overnight — the village offers overnight accommodations inside traditional huts for a truly unique experience
