Lion’s Head Baguio
What to Know Before You Visit

If you’re arriving in Baguio via Kennon Road, you can’t miss it – a massive lion’s face carved into the mountainside, watching over one of the most scenic mountain roads in the Philippines.

Lion’s Head is arguably Baguio’s most photographed landmark, and for good reason.

What Is Lion’s Head?

Lion’s Head is a large concrete sculpture built into a rocky cliff along Kennon Road, the winding mountain highway that connects Rosario, La Union to Baguio City. It was constructed in the 1970s and has since become a symbol of the city — most visitors stop here for photos before continuing up into Baguio.

The sculpture is lit up at night, making it a completely different experience after dark.

  • By motorbike — the most popular option. Kennon Road is a fantastic ride with sweeping curves, river views, and mountain scenery. You can stop directly at the landmark with no parking hassle.
  • By car or bus — possible, but parking is limited and the road is narrow in sections.
  • By tricycle — available from Baguio City proper, though pricier for a round trip.

Most locals and experienced visitors will tell you: Kennon Road is best experienced on a motorbike.
